The X-8 v.4 is THE KING of standard cut-out size 8″ subwoofers and it sets the standard for others to follow.

It builds on the legacy of the v1, v2, and v3 models but definitively out-performs all previous generations. The secret sauce is largely in the painstakingly FEA optimized spider and surround. It’s hard to overstate the impact of proper suspension design on a subwoofer but anyone who has used the X-8 v.4 can attest that we’ve nailed it here.

Beyond the suspension – the X-8 v.4 is built on a newly revised version of our classic custom-tooled 8″ frame. It represents the absolute maximum performance possible on this frame platform. The motor and coil are capable of ~20mm of linear x-max one-way and around 2.4″ p-p before the coil leaves the gap (with a little beyond that before any physical bottom is reached).

As with most of our subs it also features an aluminum magnet ID shorting ring for reduced inductive distortion as well as a few other secret Sundown tricks for distortion reduction!”

Lightweight and incredibly powerful, the Compact Neo V.3 is the perfect combination of musicality and sheer, unrelenting motor force. Using Sundown’s patented platform, the Compact features an extended pole piece with a thick shorting ring, plus a custom cross-cut pole piece with a Neodymium cap for increased output and thermal control. The solid, high-velocity pole piece uses CNC cross-cut channel cooling, a series of 16 direct air-gap vents in the back plate to keep the motor even cooler, and a vented top plate/gap.
